. good evening. >> hello. the first game of the world series is tuesday and the giants got in a final workout this afternoon. we're live at att park where players are preparing. >> reporter: hey. the air here is buzz ing with excitement. fans can barely contain themselves and the players are moving on to the task at hand. the giants ran a methodical workout focusing on catch s base runners because they know their opponents are fast. >> we'll have to control running game. and then just keep playing our game. >> reporter: in the club house before hand, travis talked about his historic home-run that propelled the team into the world series. >> i watched the replay and the more j watch it, i see it's me

but it doesn't feel like it's me. feels like it's someone else pretending to to be me. >> i was going crazy when he hit the home-run. i was so happy i got to be in the ball park for that moment. >> reporter: given that the giants are in the series for the third time in 5 series, the question begs, how do you do it? >> can you figure it out? >> it just happens. if you're fortunate enough to bow a part of it, it's special. >> once you get into the playoffs you know anything is possible and these guys execute it and play great baseball and we're looking forward to it. >> reporter: the stands will be packed next weekend with many fans who stop by for new team gear. >> i have so much stuff that it's (inaudible). it's crazy. >> reporter: and these people are confident. >> i expect for the giants to

sweep. i know kansas city is hot but we have a lot of experience. we have bochi. >> reporter: the hot sellers are shirts that say always october and the new world series hats flew off the shelves. >> reporter: the giants being in the world series means bart will likely see record ridership. there were 462,000 riders on thursday. the 4th largest crowd in the agency history. bart predicting as many as half a million passengers per day during the world series. trains will have 1 to 2 extra cars and run more frequently. all lines are expected to be packed including the line to sfo. here we're tracking a front that was headed for the area. hoping that it would bring a little bit of rain. if but instead a whole lot of sunshine. >> reporter: beautiful day across the entire bay area.

but earlier this morning, basically very early, we were talking about the front. it did generate some rainfall. especially up toward mensino county. let's look up toward fort bragg to find significant rainfall. these numbers not impressive. for cloverdale, bodega bay, only 2/7ths of an inch and san francisco dry with a few trace amounts. live storm tracker 2 right now. we are in the clear but some clouds developing off shore will work back into the bay overnight. here is our live camera coming up for you now. you can see looking toward the golden gate bridge, in the clear butx pecting more of an on shore breeze for the overnight hours. it will be a factor in the forecast and also some drizzle. that's coming up. people that live in union

city being asked to keep pets indoors after a mountain lion was spotted on a creek trail behind car avenue just east of union city boulevard. if you encounter 1, maintain eye contact with the animal and try to make yourself appear larger and do not turn your back or run. police in san jose trying to figure out what caused a car crash that claimed the life of a driver and left his passenger injured. this was last night. when police arrived they found a man and woman trapped inside a vehicle smashed against a sign. the woman was taken to the hospital. the man was pronounced dead at the scene. it's not clear if drugs or chaug were involved. in napa traffic moving slowly on highway 29 after a fatal accident. closed down a portion of the southbound state highway.

investigators say the 2-vehicle collision caused 1 car to flip on its side. 1 person was confirmed dead at the scene and no additional injuries were reported. san francisco going to the mayor's house today. >> got to go. >> reporter: the group wants san francisco mayor ed lee to stop the development of market rate housing and have more affordable housing and they're demanding a moratorium. that allows landlord to evict tenants and leave the housing when they sell it and they say rental rates are changing the culture of the city. >> we can do better as a city. make sure that folks who who -- (inaudible) spirit and the culture of the city get to stay here. >> reporter: earlier this year, introduced a housing plan aimed

at protecting residents from eviction. treasure island music festival attracting thousands of fans to the middle of the bay. >> ♪ [ music ] ♪ . >> reporter: ana tejow just entertained the crowd and outkast is the headline act. the fun starts all over again tomorrow at noon. a historic dry dock in san francisco on its way to china. dry dock 1 located at the port of san francisco for more than 70 years is headed to a grain certified recycling facility near shanghai. the dry dock was built in 1942 and another 15 years it sat unfused and fell into disrepair. today that dry dock was hoisted out of the water, placed on a vessel where it will be properly recycled. this morning was the start

of a week of activities to remember andy lopez, the 13-year-old boy who was holding a toy gun when he was shot and killed by a deputy last year. volunteers gathered to clean up the vacant lot where he was killed. a demonstration is also planned for tuesday afternoon at the sonoma county court house. he was killed by eric gelhouse 1 year ago on wednesday. he thought the replica firearm was real. a california mayor is in trouble with the law after police say he was responsible for a dui crash that injured 4 teens. allen long reportedly slammed into the back of a car that was carrying high school cheerleaders. authorities say that long showed signs and symptoms consistent with being drunk but he passed the breathalizer test. his blood alcohol level was within the legal limit at the time of the

crash. now to developing news surrounding the fight against ebola in the u.s. republicans are criticizing whether president obama's choice for ebola's czar is the right choice for the job. >> reporter: after weeks of mistakes dealing with ebola. >> frankly i'd like to know who is in charge. >> reporter: president obama caved to critics. anointing an ebola czar. >> we have an all hands on deck approach across government to make sure we're keeping the american people safe. >> reporter: but he is best known for managing political messaging and has no experience in public health. complaints came fast and furious from republicans like ed rois who said: i have to ask why the president didn't pick an

individual with a note worthy public health background. >> it's not a medical response. we're not looking for an ebola expert but an implementation expert. he has experience in the federal government. he's somebody with management experience when it comes to the private sector. >> reporter: the white house is also fending off growing calls to ban travel from effected countries. >> air travel is in fact how this disease crosses borders and it's how it got to texas in the first place. based on receipt and ongoing -- recent and ongoing developments, i believe it's the right policy to ban air travel from countries that have been hit hardest by the ebola outbreak. >> reporter: the u.s. led coalition is ramping up its attack on isis target around syria. this is what the air strikes looked like from across

event which featured experts ready to answer questions about space exploration and technology. they tested for organic compounds on mars and finding an ushth sized planet 500 light years away. expectations for the upcoming holiday season with a bay area retail giant on a holiday hiring blitz. kristen live in san francisco with a look at the company looking to bring on thousands of seasonal employees. >> reporter: yeah. halloween isn't even here but already gap is gearing up for what they hope will be a booming holiday season. >> hi. how are you doing? >> reporter:s come in expecting to leave with new clothes but some left with appointments for job interviews. >> we're doing big group interviews and we have them on multiple days at different times. >> reporter: they are looking to hire 63,000 seasonal employees in this hiring blitz.

and not just here in the bay area. >> boise. >> do you know anybody who is in boise looking for something during the holidays? >> reporter: the company is getting ready for the rush. >> always been a big focus for us. it's the first time we did a claberate was event with all of the brands. >> reporter: last month's labor report showed bay area unemployment rates have dropped to 5.6%. seasonal work is no guarantee for long-term employment but that's how her career started. >> i started as a seasonal hire back in june and it was only supposed to be a summer job and now here i am as store director. >> reporter: she stopped by the blitz today hoping her career takes a similar path. >> i'm looking for something part-time during the holidays. and hopefully maybe even go into

full-time. >> reporter: she sees signs of a strengthening job market. >> for a minute it was hard to find jobs but it seems like it's opening up a little more which is good. >> reporter: let me give you this. this is just to think about it. give you some more information about what we do during the holidays. >> reporter: they have having all of the applicants hire online and will contact you for an interview.. >> reporter: monday is the deadline to register to vote for the november 4 general election. all mailed registration forms must be post marked by october 20. you can also register online until 11:59 p.m. on monday. paper registration forms are available at post offices, libraries and the dmv. and if you move, change names or change political parties, you

are required to reregister. huwiy bracing for hurricane ana. heavy rains and high winds are expected and tourists are changing their vacation plans. >> just trying to do the outdoorsy stuff first and then after that i guess we'll -- stay close to the resort. >> reporter: big waves continue to latch at the southern shores up to 15 feet. bermuda has avoided the worst of hurricane gonzalo. the hurricane dropped from a category 3 to 2 just yesterday just before it hit the island. 110 miles per hour winds knocked down trees and cut power to thousands of homes and businesses. gonzalo is heading toward new funland tonight. parts of the east coast may feel the storm's effects.

as california continues to face drought conditions, protesters a taking aim at a bottling facility. activists are trying to shut down the plant for the day. their goal is to bring attention to the price that companies pay to bottle sacramento water and then sell it to the public. >> they're playing dirt cheap prices to pump water out at a rate of 80 million plus gallons a year and selling it right back to us. >> reporter: the company says they pay the price set by the city and there is no special deal. >> we're a very small user of water. just like everyone else, we're supplied by the city of sacramento. and we pay the same rate everyone else pays. we're just indust real water user like everyone else. >> reporter: they currently pay

less than a dollar per cubic feet of water. they say that employees continued to work there despite the protests. certainly looks like we have nice weather for our weekend but will we have rain in the week ahead? mark is here with a look at the forecast. >> reporter: talking about rain this morning. then i woke up and bright sunshine. generated a few showers up in parts of the north bay. as far as temperatures for the afternoon, very warm. you can see all the 70s and a few neighborhoods in the lower 80s. out toward fairfield. right now though we have some patchy fog regrouping off shore. that will continue the development over the next few hours. a big factor later tonight. as far as current numbers, it is 72 degrees in santa rosa.

walnut creek 74 and san jose, mostly sunny skies. 72. for tonight we have this fair skies out there. few patches of low clouds in the short term. beautiful toward the golden gate bridge and the setting sun. clear skies for that with the clearing skies -- clear skies up until 7:00 or 8:00. tomorrow more clouds. bit of a cooler forecast. raiders game, expect some patchy clouds. upper 60s near 70 for kickoff and monday, we're tracking increasing rain chances across the bay area. especially once again for the north bay. overnight lows tomorrow morning will be in the 50s. lots of clouds near the coast and the bay and could have enough moisture to squeeze out drizzle. look at the push tomorrow morning and generating spotty drizzle first thing for

sunday. clouds clear back revealing partly cloudy skies. that will be the headline for tonight. tomorrow will be cooler as we increase the on shore breeze and we're tracking the cold front. this moves in on monday. we'll bump up the rain chances especially for the north and and part of the bay area. santa rosa up toward napa and san francisco, quickly scoots to the south and east by midafternoon and by monday night we should have partly cloudy skies. forecast highs for tomorrow mainly in the 60s and 70s. will be cooler with stubborn clouds and fog. sunnyvale 73. for the pumpkin festival, partly cloudy for the afternoon hours. look ahead, 5-day forecast. cool things off for sunday. bring in the rain cloud on monday and then we'll go the other direction and warm back up for tuesday, wednesday and thursday. today just beautiful and tomorrow cool off

28-27. go 15 yards to the end zone. 33-28 ucla after 3. and now getting serious. 4th quarter. lets 1 fly for kenny. bears back in front 34 -33. ucla took the lead with a field goal but cal had a chance for a winning drive. lone interception of the day. 51 seconds left. play reviewed and the interception upheld. ucla 36-34. mountain west conference game. that put the spartans in front 17-10. they went to overtime tied at 20.
